The Unstructured Structured Life

We've heard countless times to have a structured life, to focus on what truly matters, to be intentional, and to contribute to our growth because it would pay off. But sadly, we find ourselves absently scrolling through multiple videos on social media, and the guilt kicks in.

But guess what, the cycle continues in a few more minutes, and it becomes a daily pattern of drifting away and coming back.

I say this because I can relate. So what can you do differently? Sometimes, you need structures to help maintain your set structures .

1. Set an hourly alarm: Study it yourself - sometimes we unconsciously scroll reels for about an hour without stopping. So an alarm would jumpstart you to go back. Think about it, an hour is a long time to waste scrolling, and a short time to achieve something meaningful.

2. Have a mental picture: Nothing beats you mentally flogging yourself back to order. We all need discipline, but one that would wake you faster is you. Tell yourself, you are wasting away. Imagine yourself achieving your goals, and let that drive you.

3. Set a timeline for your goals: When you fail your goals consistently, you would want to do it all possible to achieve it. Rather than make it a monthly goal or weekly goal, try limiting it to a daily or hourly goal. Break it down, make it manageable, and watch yourself crush it.

4. Don't stay too much in the realm of guilt: You got the memo that you are distracted. It's a gift, pick up and move on. Learn from it, and let's move forward.

5. Share your updates: When you help others, you automatically rule out the scenario of not following what you share with others. It might not be immediate, but the more you share, the more you are better with the structures you have laid out. It's like having an accountability partner, but you're the boss.

The point is, it's not about being perfect; it's about being intentional.
